I don’t have a lot to say, but I’ll say it emphatically.

Get yourself a writing group.

Find friends who write, or not friends, even acquaintances. Just make sure they’re people you respect and people who you think are great writers.

You can find these people at writing bars, writing rooms, writing hospitals, recovering from a broken ego.

Help them and they’ll help you.

Writing can be lonely. But it doesn’t always have to be.

Get yourself a group and meet.

Submit work before you meet and critique each other’s work. Respectfully.

Start with a round of the things you like and then, the next round, move on to the things that need work.

Writing is not about you. It’s not about your ego. It’s about your reader and writing the best damn book for her. Or him.

Take your writing to the next level. It’s really hard to do that yourself and that’s why you need a group.

If you’re a serious writer, you’ll do it. Now go.
